In bitcoin’s beginning, there were very few alternatives for storing coins: users had to download the Bitcoin-QT client to help keep the cryptocurrency.
That way, the platform storing the wallet provided the maximum amount of security since the user required, with the possibility of keeping the customer offline and encrypted – far from prying eyes trying to find private keys.
In recent years years, though, bitcoin has moved off the PC desktop onto web services and mobile wallets. And lots of of those hosted wallets, since they are called, are managed with a 3rd party.
