LocalBitcoins User Funds Stolen After Chat Client Hack

Peer-to-peer bitcoin marketplace LocalBitcoins suffered a hack today that resulted in the distribution of malware and a loss of client funds.

Impacted users will be given refunds after taking steps to deal with security susceptabilities, according to the business.

LocalBitcoins vice president Nikolaus Kangas acknowledged the hack on 27th January in an online forum post, outlining how the invasion happened through its LiveChat account, with an estimated 17 BTC lost from client wallets.Continue reading at CoinDesk CoinDesk
